The South Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation (SCLEA) was created in 1999 and offers a program through which South Carolina law enforcement agencies can evaluate, strengthen, improve and maintain their effectiveness. It not only makes a statement that the highest standards of law enforcement are being met, but it also demonstrates agency responsiveness to community needs. Specific benefits include:

The cost of the program is $150 annually and covers all materials, forms, contracts, administrative costs and agency support where required. In addition to the application fee, agencies are also responsible for their self-assessment and on-site costs.
The cost for agencies requesting Dual Accreditation is $50 for the 3 year accreditation cycle.
